Energy Conservation in New Home Construction
At the start of this winter season we discussed a number of tips for saving momey through energy conservation. We all know the extremly high costs of heating and cooling, as well as the cost of electricity and gas for all of the other uses in our homes.
You can read our original article on SAVING MONEY WITH THESE ENERGY CONSERVING TIPS at: http://www.lcrealestateblog.com/2007/10/29/save-this-season-with-these-energy-conserving-tips/.
Nancy Wisnieski on March 30th, 2008 the common forms of insulation used in our New Home Construction.
Her question about insulation is an excellent point which I failed to address in my original blog on energy conservation. Obviously the insulation in a home is very important. In this day and age, everyone should be as energy mindful as Nancy is.
Homes Built in Las Cruces vary in the type of insulation used. One of the major factors is the price range of the home. Many contractors use spray fiberglas insulation. If not this, then they use use batt insulation. There may be some that use a spray foan insulation, but not many.
You may wonder how energy mindful have building contractors been in the past. Even then, the more expensive homes used 2 x 6 construction, and thus added extra insulation. Today, all of our builders are concerned with energy costs, especially since it is a marketable feature. So, even many of the smaller less expensive homes do have 5 star ratings and heavier insulation. (Higher R-factors). So there are many 5 star energy homes available on the market.
