This was the largest attendance ever for The Wine, Blues, and Jazz Festival this past weekend. The La Vina Winery has been doing wine harvest festivals for over 25 years. The spring Jazz and Blues festival has been an annual event for the past 15 years.

I haven’t been to the festival for the past few years. The last time I went, it was a much smaller event and the grounds were not groomed. There was great wine, but certainly not the FESTIVAL that I experienced this weekend. It was simply amazing what has been done to this event to make it a wonderful event for the entire family. It is now located in a walled in complex with a huge central area of grass where you can spend the day listening to the Jazz and Blues performers. The entire area was surrounded by 60-local craft and food booths. There is a concrete patio for dancing and many tented areas with chairs to sit, relax, enjoy the music, wine, and our wonderful Las Cruces spring weather.

For the modest entry fee, you get a souvenir glass, and 6 wine tastings. There were 20 different selections of white, red, and sparkling wines to taste.

They had a wide selection of food booths. There was something for every taste.
We tried everything from the Mexican specialties, to barbeque, fresh roasted corn, and much more. We were glad that we saved room for the chocolate covered strawberries which were an excellent accompaniment to the wine. There was a slide and rock climbing wall for the kids, and plenty of room for them to run around safely. There was something for everyone.

We avoided taking the family with the grandchildren because it was a wine festival, but we enjoyed the afternoon so much that I called my son afterward and told him that we need to make it a family event next year.

I hope you enjoy the slide show, and you can appreciate that this was a great way to spend a spring day. There is always some fun thing to do in Las Cruces.
